Engineering development and consulting
Vietri develops software, sensor systems and prototypes, with expertise in computer vision, machine learning and industrial IoT.
The business is run by Lars Martin Ølstad, an engineer with an MSc from NTNU specialising in robotics, AI and automation. Projects can cover data collection and analysis, equipment integration and tools for monitoring operations.
Services
Computer vision
Camera image analysis for object detection and measurement of movement and position. Expertise in camera calibration and 3D pose estimation.
Machine learning and AI
Development of models for anomaly detection and forecasting, including data collection, preparation, model training and testing.
Industrial IoT
Integration of sensors and PLCs with servers. Dashboards provide an overview of operations through readings, historical data and alarms.
Electronics and mechatronics
Development and integration of sensors, microcontrollers and actuators for data collection and control.
CAD and 3D printing
Design and 3D printing of parts, sensor mounts and prototypes to suit the equipment and application.
Prototyping and test rigs
Development of prototypes and test rigs for testing and data collection. Experience with underwater vehicles, drones and sensor rigs.

Consulting
Reime Biotek — biogas plant monitoring
Industrial IoT and energy optimisation · 2026
The project includes connecting a biogas plant’s PLC to a server using MQTT. Readings are stored and shown in a dashboard with production figures, temperatures and alarms.
A process diagram shows readings at each component. A 3D view also displays the plant’s pipes, equipment and sensor readings.
Master's thesis
TrollFish — video analysis and debriefing
NTNU TrollLABS, for the Norwegian Sailing Federation and Olympic Training Centre · 2025–2026
TrollFish was developed to analyse sailing sessions. Coaches and athletes can view video, GPS and sensor readings together and review individual manoeuvres.
The tool detects manoeuvres, estimates wind from GPS tracks and generates session reports.
The work resulted in two peer-reviewed papers.
The video analysis and data processing can be adapted to other boat classes and applications.

Kongsberg Discovery
R&D engineer. Worked on launch, recovery and remote control of a semi-autonomous ROV from an unmanned vessel. Designed and produced parts for an autonomous fixed-wing drone. -

Deputy mechanical team leader. Contributed to the ROV that won TAC Challenge 2024. -
